Boundless Fluidity

This painting held a deep meaning to me, originally a part of the Prolific Immersive Art Exhibit in 2022 curated by Eliana Brown in St. Croix. As the exhibit theme was about transformation and self-love,  I created this painting to reflect on my own life journey and growth of the last five years. 

Excerpt of my artist statement:

"I change and evolve as fluidly as water moving from one space to another, from one state to the next – reflecting different memories, intuitions, and emotions. Water flows and ebbs. It can be calming, or it can break you. Their reach and effect know no boundaries.  I use a lot of loose movements and brush strokes, different shades and tones of blue contrasted with the white gouache to evoke different emotions in one painting frame. From one single drop in a calm, turquoise waters to the powerful waves crashing, awaken with a jolt.

A single water drop can create a ripple effect, just like in life one single event can break you or rebuild you – I use this metaphor for my own growth: the water drop symbolizes the tears of my broken days, transformed and rebuilt into this fluid vastness of power. The vastness of water reminds me of the power I hold within, the power of self-love and transformation."
