Many times when I walk down the Frederiksted pier at night, or go snorkeling in some of St. Croix's pristine beaches, I see these sea turtles gliding effortlessly in the water. Or munching on grass at the bottom of the ocean. Or shooting up to the surface to poke their head out for air. 

I am always grateful to live in a place where the ocean is just a magnificent swirls of blues and turquoise and a quick snorkeling trip often ends in such delightful encounters with these incredible creatures. Sea turtles can traveled thousands of miles in their lifetime, journeying across vast oceans to feed, breed and nest their eggs. They have an incredible ability to use the earth's magnetic fields for navigation purposes.
